‘Opening up conversations around the interconnectedness between our bodies, self and the natural world.’

Many of us are in need of voices who are willing to explore other narratives - ways of being and experiencing the world, allowing connection to unfold and opening within us our own sense of truth and place.

the path unknown

Navigating a path unknown is life changing, and is often the biggest call to a return to ourselves and truth.

Through experiences of recovery, walking became Ali’s daily purpose, and a metaphor for regaining independence and freedom. This experience has given way to a curiosity for truth and connection in a society so conditioned by ableist, capitalist, dogmatic narratives and expectations.

Knowing that our health and the health of our environment are so deeply and intrinsically interconnected, this pilgrimage became the right time and place to question ‘what happens when we are not well?’. When you are set on a path of true uncertainty and the true unknown, you may enter into a place where true adventure begins.

This is the exploration of The Path Unknown podcast — opening up conversations around the interconnectedness between our bodies, self and the natural world.

Join Ali on a pilgrimage of connection and exploration along 215 miles of the Cornish Celtic Way. This is the lesser known but more ancient pilgrimage route through Cornwall. It weaves its way along the coast, before meandering through woodlands and moorlands, while slowly working its way South. It has given chance to unearth a different perspective of homelands and has opened up paths of deep conversation around navigating a path unknown. .

  • T A O - means literally “the path” or “the way.”

the absolute principle underlying the universe, combining within itself the principles of yin and yang and signifying the way, or code of behaviour, that is in harmony with the natural order. The great lesson of Taoism is the call to return to nature, to the natural flow of things. We need to learn to live in harmony with nature, nurturing and healing the environment on which we depend. We also need to learn to return to our bodies, to reconnect to what they are telling us - The Way

  • Our body keeps the score.

We explore through walking and conversation how others have found and nourished both.

  • we walk and talk with souls who are gently nourishing our entire ecosystem.

“But I have come to realize that the true meaning of pilgrimage is to live free from any attachments, habits, prejudices. Free from physical and mental clutter. Making an outer journey is a reminder of an inner journey, and I discovered that I am always on a pilgrimage. Life is a journey. I want to travel through life as a pilgrim.” - The Art of simplicity

At the very start of the pilgrimage we meet Satish Kumar who blesses the pilgrimage and imparts his words of wisdom. we touch on expectation, slowing down, cultural conditioning and gardening. I hope you enjoy.

‘Pilgrims are persons in motion passing through territories that are not yet your own.Seeking something we might call ‘contemplation’ or perhaps the word ‘clarity’ would do as well, a goal to which the spirits compass points the way.’ - Pilgrimage: A spiritual and cultural journey.

As we make our way across Downderry beach, it is covered in calcite pebbles. They are covered with many different paths and rings running all over them. Opening my Cornish Celtic Way guide book by Reverend Nigel Barns, he invites us to choose one pebble that marks the beginning of our journey, to carry with us on our pilgrimage. Promoting us to ask ourselves about the paths that we are on in our own lives. He mentions that he himself was at a crossroads when he started this guide. Join us as we explore more about why and how this pilgrimage route came about and how this pilgrimage has influenced his path in life on a personal and professional level.
